Loved my pleasant overnight stay on a weekend. The location was central, adjacent to the rear patio/garden, the wildlife and Pickering and Helmsley. It also was in a very unspoilt area with lots of lovely country walks.

The dining options are excellent, particularly the evening meals, which showcase quality ingredients and generous portions. The dog-friendly policy is a big plus, accommodating pets without extra charges, and even providing towels for muddy paws.
Room 8 sits above the bar, so noise might be bothersome for light sleepers hoping for an early night. The external door from the car park requires a hefty slam to close, rattling the building, which can be annoying. Breakfast options left something to be desired, particularly with the kippers touted to be local yet tasting quite salty and lacking freshness.

Perfect for a peaceful retreat
Spent a couple of nights in a lovely room, the staff were friendly, especially a lady named Jude who made sure our mornings started with a delicious breakfast and a sausage for my dog! The beer garden was like a slice of heaven, enjoyed every moment soaking up the sun with a pint in hand!
It wasn't exactly inexpensive, but I guess you pay for the experience.
